Fire resistant GRP laminates

Vetroresina produces fire-resistant GRP laminates with low smoke-emission toxicity levels. Depending on the degree of fire-resistance and the aesthetic properties required, products can be produced with a fire-resistant gelcoat, with a conventional gelcoat in accordance with NFP 92-501 Class M1, NFF 16-101 Class F0 or without a gelcoat.

In general, this laminate offers:

  • Good resistance to atmospheric agents
  • Good UV stability
  • High level of stiffness
  • Good electrical insulation
  • Ease of cleaning

Recommended applications

All applications requiring a high degree of fire resistance. In particular:

  • Construction: wall panels
  • Mobile laboratories/clinics: construction of wall panels
  • Public transport: vehicle components

Main characteristics

  • Glass fibre MAT, available in versions ranging from 300 g/m² to 500 g/m²
  • Glass fibre WOVEN ROVING, available in versions ranging from 300 g/m² to 500 g/m²
  • Thickness: the thickness will depend on the degree of fire-resistance required. Minimum thickness is 2mm.
  • Weight 3 – 7 kg/m²
  • External finish: glossy or matt FR gelcoat, glossy or matt gelcoat, no gelcoat.
  • Rear finish: sanded

  • AFNOR NFP 92-501:
    M1: laminate with FR gelcoat 4 mm
    M2: laminate with FR gelcoat 3 mm laminate without gelcoat 2 mm
    M3: laminate with gelcoat 2 mm
  • ASTM E162:
    Is: 17.78 laminate without gelcoat 2 mm
    Is: 7.8 laminate with FR gelcoat 3 mm

  • EN 13501-1:2007:
    C, s2,d0: laminate with FR gelcoat 3 mm
    D, s1,d0: laminate with FR gelcoat 1.5 mm

The mechanical properties vary considerably depending on the type of product.

Finishes

The surfaces of Vetroresina’s laminates may have different finishes, depending on the type of application; the external surface may be glossy, matt and with or without gelcoat, whilst the internal surface may be rough, sanded or smooth. Packing and transport

Rolls

Each roll is packaged with protective material (bubble wrap) and labelled to facilitate product traceability. It can be dispatched in various ways:

  • with 60 cm polystyrene packaging;
  • on a pallet with 60 cm or 70 cm iron supports (returnable);
  • on a custom-sized wooden pallet.

Sheets
The sheets may be of various sizes and are packaged and labelled to facilitate product traceability. They may be dispatched on wooden pallets or returnable iron supports.
